Fighting Hunger Three Points At A Time
Three Points to Help the Hungry
Since 2016, the Abood Law Firm, in conjunction with The Greater Lansing Food Bank, helps feed hungry families in the Greater Lansing area though their sponsorship of the “Beyond The Arc” campaign. During Michigan Spartan men’s and women’s basketball games, $25 is donated for every three-point shot made by MSU players. For the 2018-2019 season, 475 three-point shots brought in $11,875, which translated to 35,625 meals served to area families.

The Abood Law Firm serves our clients with knowledge, experience, and a dedication to longstanding values established in a tradition of excellence. Forty-one million Americans face hunger every day. More than half of hungry households are white, and two-thirds of those with children have at least one adult working a full-time job. In 1980, there were about 2 dozen food banks in the United States. Today, there are more than 200, which serve 63,000 affiliated pantries and shelters.
The prevalence of food insecurity has remained relatively constant over the past 20+ years. 12.3% of households were food insecure in 2016, a slight increase from the rate of 11.9% recorded in 1995, the year federal government started keeping statistics.
The Greater Lansing Food Bank makes certain that everyone in our community has access to nutritious food, because we believe that no one should ever go hungry in our community. The food bank gets food from retailers, the USDA, food producers, purchased goods and from food drive donations.
We provide emergency food to families and children and retirees and veterans who have served our country. We serve people who look just like you and me. We help people to perform better at work and school and at home, because food is a basic need. Remember, that no one ever plans to be hungry.

“Campaigns like this are just a little reminder that the need continues in our community,” said Kelly Miller, Development & Major Gifts Manager at Greater Lansing Food Bank. “Abood Law Firm, the MSU athletes and Fox Sports found a way to support the community while enjoying the game. It’s an amazing partnership for everyone.”
